While the main travel season may be winding down, Tennessee is beautiful in the late summer and early fall – so it’s little wonder that RV campgrounds are a popular place in Tennessee this time of year.
There’s just something magical about this area of the United States, with its breathtaking views, rich history, and untapped wilderness. Tennessee has a tremendous number of things to offer, including National Parks, the capital of country music (Nashville), the Great Smoky Mountains, and Civil War sites – all things that you can enjoy while on your RV trip.
If you’re planning a trip to the Volunteer State in your RV, you can’t go wrong with staying at one of these campgrounds.
Piney River Resort RV Park
This RV campground is just outside Nashville in Bon Aqua. If you’re looking for things to do, you’ve hit the jackpot here. Without ever leaving, you can soak in the gorgeous environment while canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and floating. If you’re more into the city scene, take a short drive and get spooked on a ghost tour of Historical Franklin, or catch a Broadway show.
You don’t have to worry about a lack of amenities, either. Piney River Resort offers a number of sites that come with full hookups.
Anchor Down RV Resort
Anchor Down RV Resort in Dandridge, Tennessee, is where you go to be stunned by the view every morning when you wake up. The park is right on the shores of Lake Douglas, with a picturesque view of the Great Smoky Mountains in the background.
The view isn’t the only great thing about this park – you’ll also never run out of fun activities. If you enjoy spending time on the water, there are boat rentals available, along with a pool (that includes a water slide!), a bathhouse with private bathrooms, a fishing pier, and an inflatable trampoline on the lake. If you prefer to stay on land, check out the basketball court and golf cart rentals!
Seven Points Campground
Located on Percy Priest Lake, enjoy the dock belonging to Seven Points Campground and get right in the water. Even if you don’t have a boat, there’s a beach to play in that belongs to the campsite.
Along with the fun things that this campground offers, it’s also a hop, skip, and a jump away from Tennessee’s capital city of Nashville. Head on over there to enjoy live country music or some famous Tennessean BBQ!
Creekside RV Park
One of the best things about the city of Pigeon Forge is Creekside RV Park. It’s nestled right on Walkden’s Creek, which means it’s close to entertainment like Dollywood, the Titanic museum, and a slew of other diverse attractions. At the campground itself, you’ll find the perfect nook for campfires, fishing spots in the creek, and even a saltwater pool.
Graceland RV Park
Elvis fans shouldn’t miss out on Graceland RV Park, because it gives you the chance to set up camp just a short distance away from the King’s former home. This 19-acre park boasts full hookup sites, a camping store, internet access, and much more.
If you’re not big into Elvis, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy this campground. For example, you might take an adventure on the hiking trails and explore one of the most beautiful areas of the nation.
Tims Ford State Park
Fishermen and women shouldn’t miss out on Tims Ford State Park, as Tims Ford is considered one of the top bass fishing lakes in the entire country. It’s also known for being a wonderful recreational lake, so you can still have fun and relax if you’re not into catching fish.
Here, there are eight public boat ramps, two marinas, and 20 miles of biking/hiking trails for those who don’t want to get their hair wet.
Chickasaw State Park
The recently renovated Chickasaw State Park is the place to go if you want to get as high up as Tennessee allows. It sits on some of the loftiest terrain in the state, and has so much to offer in the way of hiking trails, hunting opportunities, and horseback riding.
If you’re into the fast and furious life, you even have the chance to go ATV riding on the 14,000 acres that are a part of this beautiful park. And, at the end of the day, take a relaxing dip in Lake Placid.
